Experience the spectacular landscapes of the Georgian Caucasus Mountains on a full-day private tour from Tbilisi to Kazbegi and Gergeti.
The journey takes you along the famous Georgian Military Highway, through mountain valleys, historic sites and breathtaking viewpoints.
1. Zhinvali Reservoir
Our first stop is Zhinvali Reservoir, surrounded by green mountains.
The turquoise-colored water and dramatic mountain scenery make this one of the most beautiful photo stops on the Georgian Military Highway.
2. Ananuri Fortress
We continue to Ananuri Fortress, a historic architectural complex located beside the Zhinvali Reservoir.
The fortress was an important strategic location for centuries. Inside the complex, you can see several churches, defensive towers and traditional Georgian architectural details.
The combination of the medieval fortress, church and turquoise reservoir creates one of the most impressive views along the route.
3. Gudauri
We then continue higher into the Caucasus Mountains and arrive in Gudauri, one of Georgia’s most popular mountain resorts.
Gudauri is famous for skiing in winter and spectacular mountain scenery throughout the year.
Depending on the season and weather conditions, we can make a short stop here to enjoy the views and have a coffee break.
4. Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument
Near Gudauri, we stop at the Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument, also known as the Gudauri Panorama.
The monument was built in 1983 to commemorate the bicentennial of the Treaty of Georgievsk.
Its semicircular observation platform offers spectacular views over the Aragvi Valley and the surrounding Caucasus Mountains.
The monument is decorated with a large colorful mosaic depicting scenes from Georgian and Russian history.
5. Jvari Pass
We continue through Jvari Pass, one of the highest points on the Georgian Military Highway.
The road crosses dramatic mountain landscapes, with steep slopes, deep valleys and high peaks surrounding us.
The scenery becomes increasingly spectacular as we approach Stepantsminda.
6. Stepantsminda – Kazbegi
We arrive in Stepantsminda, a small mountain town better known to visitors as Kazbegi.
The town is surrounded by the Greater Caucasus Mountains and is one of the most popular destinations in Georgia.
On clear days, you can see the impressive Mount Kazbek, one of the highest peaks in Georgia, rising above the valley.
7. Gergeti Trinity Church
The highlight of the tour is Gergeti Trinity Church, dramatically located on a hill above Stepantsminda.
The church was built in the 14th century and has become one of the most recognizable symbols of Georgia.
From Gergeti, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Stepantsminda, the surrounding valleys and the Caucasus Mountains.
After visiting Gergeti Trinity Church, we return to Stepantsminda and begin our journey back to Tbilisi.
Return to Tbilisi
On the way back, we can make short photo and coffee stops depending on weather, traffic and available time.
We arrive back in Tbilisi in the evening.
