Discover the highlights of Tbilisi, Georgia’s vibrant capital, and visit Mtskheta, the ancient capital and one of the most important spiritual centres of Georgia.

This private day tour combines history, culture, architecture and beautiful panoramic views.

1. Holy Trinity Cathedral – Sameba

We begin our tour with the Holy Trinity Cathedral, known as Sameba in Georgian.

Sameba is the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church and one of the most important religious landmarks in Georgia.

Located on a hill overlooking Tbilisi, the cathedral is visible from many parts of the city. The complex includes the main cathedral, a bell tower, monastery buildings and beautiful gardens.

From the cathedral grounds, we can also enjoy panoramic views over Tbilisi.

2. Metekhi Church

We continue to Metekhi, one of the historic areas of Tbilisi.

The Metekhi Church stands on a rocky hill above the Mtkvari River. Near the church is a monument to King Vakhtang Gorgasali, traditionally regarded as the founder of Tbilisi.

This is also a great viewpoint over the Old Town and the river.

3. Rike Park & Bridge of Peace

Next, we visit Rike Park and the famous Bridge of Peace.

The modern glass bridge crosses the Mtkvari River and connects Rike Park with the historic part of Tbilisi.

It is one of the city’s most recognizable modern landmarks.

4. Narikala Fortress

From Rike Park, we can take the cable car up to Narikala Fortress.

Narikala is one of the oldest and most important fortifications in Tbilisi. From the fortress, there is a spectacular panoramic view of the Old Town, the Mtkvari River and the surrounding hills.

5. Mother of Georgia

Near Narikala stands the famous Mother of Georgia, a large monument overlooking the capital.

The statue represents the traditional Georgian character: welcoming guests with hospitality while being ready to defend the country when necessary.

6. Abanotubani – Sulfur Baths

We then walk through Abanotubani, the historic sulfur-bath district of Tbilisi.

The area is famous for its traditional domed bathhouses and is closely connected with the history and foundation of the city.

According to the traditional story, King Vakhtang Gorgasali discovered the hot sulfur springs while hunting, and this discovery played an important role in the foundation of Tbilisi.

7. Drive to Mtskheta

After exploring Tbilisi, we leave the capital and drive to Mtskheta, approximately 25 km from Tbilisi.

Mtskheta is one of the oldest cities in Georgia and was the ancient capital of the country.

It is also one of the most important spiritual centres of Georgian Christianity.

8. Jvari Monastery

Our first stop in the Mtskheta area is Jvari Monastery, located on a hill overlooking the ancient city.

From here, we have one of the most beautiful views in Georgia — the historic town of Mtskheta and the meeting point of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers.

Jvari is an important monument of early Georgian Christian architecture and has played an important role in the country’s religious history.

9. Svetitskhoveli Cathedral

We then continue to the centre of Mtskheta to visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral.

Svetitskhoveli is one of the most important religious monuments in Georgia and one of the country’s most impressive examples of medieval architecture.

The cathedral is deeply connected with Georgian Christianity and has been an important spiritual centre for centuries.

10. Mtskheta Old Town

After visiting the cathedral, we take some time to walk through the historic streets of Mtskheta.

You can explore the old town, see traditional Georgian architecture, visit small local shops and enjoy the atmosphere of this historic city.

Return to Tbilisi

After our visit to Mtskheta, we drive back to Tbilisi.
