Kazbegi

Kazbegi is Georgia's classic mountain route, combining the Georgian Military Road, Ananuri, Zhinvali, Gudauri, Jvari Pass, Stepantsminda, Gergeti Trinity Church, Dariali Valley, and Mount Kazbek scenery.

01

Why it matters

The route is important because the road itself is part of the experience. Fortresses, reservoirs, passes, ski-resort landscapes, and high Caucasus villages appear in one continuous line from Tbilisi to Stepantsminda.

02

Main sights

Ananuri Fortress gives the historical layer, Gudauri and Jvari Pass give the mountain scale, and Gergeti Trinity Church adds the 14th-century church story above Stepantsminda. The Dariali Valley and Gveleti area add stronger nature when timing and conditions allow.

03

Road note

Mountain weather can change quickly near Gudauri, Jvari Pass, and Stepantsminda. A private driver-guide helps keep timing realistic and adjusts stops around road conditions.
